we have in our family a female bracco Aurora del Monte Alago. We have also had an other female bracco Heinäaron Tuo Soffione, who passed away one and half years ago. My husband hunts and that is why we have gun-dogs. We think, that bracco is a born hunter, who can find and point the game without training. You just take the dogs to places where the game is. They are also very easy to teach how to retrieve. Fetching from water has not been their best side, but we started to train with frozen ducks and gave treats from the bird. Working in water is now Aurora's favorite job.
Bracco is coming more and more popular here in Finland. Not as a gun-dog, but as a family pet, because they are pretty good in it, too.
What do you think in Italy? Does the role as a pet ruin the breeds natural skills and drive to hunt. Should the breed keep in hunters hands or does it matter at all?
Is there any discussion about this in Italy?
